FERROUS PACKAGING WASTE

FERROUS PACKAGING WASTE

Steel is one of the materials most often used for packaging – for canned food, for example. Steel waste, thanks to the fact that steel can be re-melted and re-cast for as many times as it’s needed, without losing any of its properties, is the most recycled of all. In Europe, almost three quarters of steel packaging waste is recycled.

How is it recycled?

Simple – by washing and melting.

What are the advantages of recycling?

First of all, recycling saves a finite natural resource. Secondly, the steel that ends up in waste deposits is lost for good – it oxidizes quite fast and nothing can be recovered.

What can I recycle?

Any steel container, preferably cleaned, provided that it isn’t rusty.
